Reyes has always lived in the Society, didn’t know anything different. The
Society controlled everything, what you ate, what you wore, what you did, who
you would be matched to, when you died. Everything, but that was natural for lots
of people since they were born in it. Just like Cassia Reyes, when she got
matched to one of her best friends Xander, she is over joyed and happy. But
when Cassia went to see what the courtship guidelines were for Xander and her,
it wasn't his picture that popped up it was someone else she knew, Ky.
Ever since she saw Ky’s picture instead of Xanders she’s been so worried
she didn’t know what to do. Cassia kept thinking of him, not Xander but Ky.
Then a few days later an official came and told Cassia it was a mistake, a
stupid joke. That she really is matched with Xander and not Ky. But even after
that she can’t get Ky out of her mind. When she signed up for hiking Ky was there,
and she was partnered with him. They started to talk and Ky gave her notes on napkins
about his past. Ky even starts teaching Cassia how to write in the dirt. Cassia
realizes that she’s in love with Ky. Will they get in trouble, what will the
Society do if they find out what Cassia and Ky are doing and are in love?
