HELLO!!!!

THE THINGS THEY CARRIED
Tim O'Brien
The Things They Carried, this book is about the Vietnam war and how soldiers lasted through it with the possessions they had. The book starts with how these guys carried certain items with them to cope with the war. Some brought love letters, others brought pictures. They all had one thing in common though, they all wanted to leave. Now throughout the book it talks about on a lot of the obstacles the soldiers went through! Shootings, supplies, and past loves.

The title is literal, it's kind of like a quote. They all brought something for luck, or love. The book is focused on a certain platoon of soldiers, but all of them carrying ammunition, to kill. They're like a dis-functional family with a lot of problems! Some how though, it's always worked out.

The book doesn't necessarily have a climax, it's all just hell they go through. Some worse then others.

Book #3

Horses of the Dawn
The Escape
By: Kathryn Lasky
Being born on the moving ground isn’t easy, especially for a horse. Estrella was though. She didn’t know what grass tasted like, or how it felt to run, all she knew was the sling in the dark barn under the deck of the ship. Her dam told her lots of stories about living in England; stories about the meadow, the grass, running, kicking, and being able to see the stars and feel the warmth of the sun. The stories fascinated Estrella. She had millions of questions, some even her dam didn’t know.
One day Estrella’s mom starts to stomp and squeal. All of a sudden the slings started to move. She was carried above the deck and dropped into the ocean. For a horse that hasn’t even seen the sunlight, this is an extreme shock. Her dam helps her by telling her to, “Breathe and keep swimming with your head high.”
As they swam, Estrella heard screams of terror, human screams. They were pointing at the water. When Estrella looked down, the water turned white. A huge animal was swimming under them. It bumped Estrella and she shrieked. Estrella’s dam hurried to her side knowing the shark was after the foal. Moments after the large animal grabbed Estrella’s dam in its large white jagged teeth and drug her under the water. It soon turned from dark blue to blood red. Estrella was horrified, they had been off the boat for only minutes and her mom had already been killed.
Something flashed through her dam’s eyes; the smell of sweet grass and a tiny pony. After reaching the beach, all of the horses began to run and kick in the freedom they now have. Once they were done, Estrella took the lead and will lead the horses on a parlous journey filled with strife and sorrow.

book review #3 Under the never Sky By Veronica Rossi

Under the never
Sky

                                     By Veronica Rossi
The door opened, everyone breathed in awaiting the wave of real air. Soren pushed the door open all the way “Freedom at last”. Hearing Soren say that made Aria shiver. Paisley graved Aria’s hand. Everyone followed Soren in. they were going into the real world not there world with all the Realms. The Realms were virtual spaces that we could go into, with the eye piece that’s on are left eye. The door led into a big open room that had rows of waist-high plastic mounds with decaying fruits and vegetables on top of them. Like everything in the Pod, they were genetically designed for efficiency. They didn't have leafs, didn't need soil, and would grow with very little water.

There was so much dust everywhere that Soren was leaving foot prints behind him. Soren, Echo, and Bane ran around throwing food at each other for about half an hour. When they were done they started to look for something else to entertain them. Soren found another big room full of big, old died trees. Soren told Echo and Bane to start gathering wood so that they could start a real fire.  Aria looked at Paisley; this is not a very good idea. When the boys were too busy to notice Aria and Paisley ran. They were pretty far in the orchard and were not sure where the door really was. Aria heard Soren behind her, “go get them!” Soren started to make wired animal noises, like a dog or wolf. They were acting like savages, the kind we were told about in the Pod. They were said to act like animals and eat human flesh.
Pretty soon the fire that the boys make lit the whole forest on fire. Soren was right behind Aria and Paisley, he tried to get Paisley but Aria shoved him. Paisley was able to just away but Aria was on the ground with Soren on top of her, pulling on her eye piece. Aria  screamed from the pain. Soren pulled her eye piece all the way off and throw it beside her. Aria looked behind Soren; the fire was getting bigger and bigger. There was smoke everywhere. From the fire came a shadow in the form of a man, Aria was too weak to tell if what she was seeing was real or not. Then the closer it got Aria realized that it was a real savage coming to them.

Book 3: Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days

Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days
Jeff Kinney
Book 3

Greg is back and school is out. It’s the start of summer and Greg has his own version of spending his summer in his house, with curtains close, lights off, and playing video games.  But that plan fails and his mom wants him outside so he gets invited to the country club for a while until Rowley stops inviting him.

Well he realizes why, he has to pay at least $80 for all the smoothies he and Rowley bought. So they try to come up with a business, but it all fails and at the end he comes up with the money any ways. So that was just a small part of the book but believe me it is a very funny, detailed book.

Yellow Birds

Yellow birds(Review 3)

By:  Kevin Powers
Despite being throw in the desert dust and being constantly fired at Private John Bartle now has to look after an 18 year old baby faced rookie, Murph. As Bartle reunites with is mom during an army dinner Murph, who has become Bartle’s best friend introduced him to his mother made him promise to bring Murph back alive.  Which he agrees to do.
They continue through the desert. Holding camps in buildings forgotten about by life. Left in the eternal dust caused by the bullets ripping into the hot desert ground, the bullets that they fired into the mass of enemies. The dust from there building being slowly worn down by the bullets embedding into it. The odds seem to be against them.
Bartle and Murph experience death first hand. Enough to make it a just another part of life. Bartle and Murph have even gone as far as to make a list of every death counting each off, with a number. There Sargent even “accidently” kills a car full of civilians. They lose entire battalions of men and their closest friends.
Bartle as some accounts of being in trouble after the war. He is addicted to beer and cigarettes and lives in a rundown apartment building. He sits on his roof shooting a cheap rifle.  He had done two things that could land him in jail. One writing a note to a dead man’s mother and promising to bring him back alive.

The Scorpio Races (book 4)

The Scorpio Races is full of action, romance, drama, and suspense all wrapped up into a wonderful book. It is defiantly easy to get into and very hard to put down.

The Scorpio Races can kill both dreams and people. However winning them can make all your dreams come true. And that is exactly what both Sean Kendrick, and Kate "Puck" Connolly need. But in order to do so they must battle not only each other, but deadly capall uinsce. A capall uinsce is a horse of the sea. They live in the ocean, smell of salt, and eat meat. Yet they still look like horses, only bigger, and with longer ears like that of a donkey, and a longer thinner eye to keep the salt out. And they would do almost anything to go back to the sea.

Sean Kendrick, a quite, nineteen year old, four time Scorpio champion wants nothing more than to call Core, his red, flesh eating, capall uinsce truly his. When Sean was little, his father rode in the races on the same horse. Sean was a young lad, and had asked Corr not to eat his father. But after his father falls from his mount in the races, Corr, as asked, didn't eat him, but returned to the sea, whose call rests deeply in all capall uinsce. And years later, when Sean, working for Benjamin Malvern, a cruel man but not as cruel as his son, caught him again. He felt a strong connection, with only one barrier. He could not own Corr. Not yet anyway.

Kate Connolly has to enter the races to keep her life together. After her parents were both killed by the sea demons, her older brother Gabe was left in charge. But he never told Puck, or the youngest brother Finn about any of their financial problems. And to top it off, not only will they lose their parents house, but Gabe as well. He says he will be leaving the island to go to America. So Puck, trying to save her house and little brother, trains with her island "pony" who she insist is a horse. But no one even counts her in, considering she is the first girl to ever enter the races. And the first person to ever dare to not ride a capall uinsce.

When their paths cross, everything is different. Sean, who normally is emotionless on the outside, can't help but give a hint of a smile when he sees her, and Puck cant stop the little flutter her heart does when he walks into the room. But naturally, there can be only one winner.

War Horse (Book Review 3)

War Horse (Book Review 3)

Michael Morpurgo

“War horse”, a proud and original title. Plainly, it’s a book about a horse, and his journeys, but it’s so much more than that. This book includes moments of anger, happiness, and quite a bit of sadness. It’s also a book of adventure, betrayal, and friendship. It’s also a book about keeping your old friends in your memory, while making new memories with new friends.

The book starts off with the horse, who doesn’t actually have a name yet, about six months old, and at an auction. A horse in front of him was quickly auctioned off, and it was his turn to be auctioned, so he and his owner stepped forward. Bids didn’t fly, but he was sold pretty quickly. Just after the auction he got hauled off to a farm, and a little while later, he was thrown into a stable while being called vulgar names. Next thing this horse new, he was accompanied by a young boy, and an older woman. “Mother,” the boy said. “That will be a wonderful and brave horse. Look at how he holds his head.” Then, after a brief moment of silence, he says, “Look at him, Mother. He’s wet through to the skin. I’ll have to rub him down.”

“But your father said to leave him be, Albert,” said the boy’s mother. “Said it’ll do him good to be left alone. He told you not to touch him.” Then the boy, Albert, says something incredibly intelligent, even for his age of thirteen, “Mother, when Father’s drunk, he doesn’t know what he’s saying or what he’s doing. He’s always drunk on market days. You’ve told me often enough not to pay him any account when he’s like that.” Then after an0other mement, “You feed old Zoey, Mother, while I see to him. Oh, isn’t he grand Mother? He’s red almost, red bay you’d call him, wouldn’t you say? And that cross down his nose is perfect. Have you ever seen such a thing? I will ride this horse when he’s ready. I will ride him everywhere, and there won’t be a horse to touch him, not in the whole parish, not in this whole country.”

A little while later, Albert’s mother left and Albert starts rubbing his new steed down. He then, begins talking to him. “We’ll get along you and I. I will call you Joey only because it rhymes with Zoey, and then maybe – yes, maybe – because it suits you,” and so starts a glorious friendship. Over the next long winters and hot summers, Albert and Joey grew up together.

Finally, after growing up a bit, Joey starts working around the farm with old Zoey and Albert, but Joey starts hearing rumors of a war. Then it hit, a war had actually broke out! Next, about a week after Joey heard about the war, men in khaki uniforms came to the farm. The captain jumped down from his steed and approached both Albert and his father. They were talking about a price for something, and that something… was Joey.  After, a long argument on a price, Albert says he wants to join the army, but alas, the captain said he was too young. After a little more arguing, they sell Joey for forty pounds and a promise that Joey will not come to any sort of harm. Now Joey is preparing to become a war horse, but what he doesn’t know is, he will go through many different families, and even fight for different sides in this war.

“War Horse” is a thrill ride that takes place during the First World War and, just to be honest, it doesn’t seem like a great book at first, but once I reached the start of the actual war, it got quite interesting. However, this book isn’t for everyone. I’d only recommend this book to people who like war books or those who like “exciting adventure” books.

Book Review 3 Through My Eyes

Through My Eyes

By: Tim Tebow with Nathan Whitaker

Most people think Tim Tebow is just a random guy who at one time played for the Denver Broncos. Well, they are wrong, there is way more to his story than just that.

Timothy Tebow was born on August 14, 1987 in the Philippines. During his mother's pregnancy with him, the doctors kept telling her to do an abortion. Tim's parent luckily didn't go with what the doctors were telling them, instead they followed what God was telling them.

Growing up, Tim and his brothers, Peter and Robby, would always be together. They were inseparable. When they were not learning, the boys would go out and play baseball, football, or whatever else they could do. All of the boys, including, their father, have had a chipped tooth and also scars on their chins.

Tim Tebow has faced a lot of challenges in his life from when he was born to now. He is a great role model for every single person. Tim can do what he loves because God is the one who give Tim his strength. Tim mentions that in his book a lot because he wants everyone to know that God give everyone their strength.
