Edenbrooke

Edenbrooke
By: Julianne Donaldson

Marianne Daventry is stuck in a town called Bath. And she wishes more than ever to be with her sister Cecily. Just when she thinks she is stuck in Bath forever, her sister writes her a letter extending an invitation to a countryside estate called Edenbrooke, where she might finally be able to spend time with her sister and enjoy the country.

She is currently living with her Grandmother. Her Grandmother agrees to let her go only if she learns how to be an elegant lady. Marianne quickly agrees. She will do almost anything to escape the boredom of Bath.

On her way there, she and her maid encounter a terrifying experience with a highwayman. After their coachman got wounded, she’s not sure what she will do or how she will ever make it to Edenbrooke. Shaken and scared, she decides she will drive the carriage until they find a place to get help and rest. After driving on and on, seemingly in the middle of nowhere in the middle of the night, she finally sees lights in the distance leading to an inn.

While at the inn, Marianne runs into a strange, mysterious man who seems to be hiding something. But she cant quite figure out what. All she figured out was his name, Phillip. After the long night, Marianne awakes to find that a coach and a coachman has been provided for her and her maid to travel to Edenbrooke. But no one will tell her who brought it to her.

After Marianne finally makes it to Edenbrooke, she discovers the man from the inn lives there at Edenbrooke. She is not so sure what to think of anything. But after spending more time there, she finds herself going down an unexpected and surprising number of weeks filled with romance.
