Book Review Three: Faith, Hope, and Ivy June

Faith, Hope and Ivy June
By: Phyllis Reynolds Naylor

Ivy June lives in a remote town called Thunder Creek, in the mountains with no cell reception, electricity, no running water, or phones. Ivy June signs up for the first ever student exchange program, where she could have a chance to go to Lexington. Ivy June soon learns that she is picked to go to Lexington and be an “ambassador” for her school. Ivy June’s first reaction is excited and then she gets worried, she wonders how they are going to treat her, and if everyone there will like her.                                                                                                                          Catherine Combs has everything she could ever want, or need. She lives in a big house, with a housekeeper, she doesn’t have to do chores, and she goes to an all-girls academy. But, there is always a catch, it wasn’t always like this, she only got the housekeeper because her mom got sick, really sick with pneumonia.                             At first when Ivy June was at Catherine’s house it was awkward, and Ivy June felt out of place in the “rich” peoples house. But, as the two weeks came closer to an end Catherine and Ivy June become good friends. Soon, its time for Ivy June and Catherine to come home to Thunder Creek,  as Ivy June’s Mamaw said, bad things come in threes, and so as she said disaster hit. Find out what true friends can do for each other in the worst of times, this book is amazing, it’s full of action, sadness and a little bit of love that will keep you wanting more.
