Looking for Alaska
by: John Green
BEFORE:
Miles, also known as Pudge, doesn't have many friends but is fine with it. He has an obsession with famous people's last words. For example: JFK's last words were "that's obvious" and then he got shot. But Miles was moving to his dad's old boarding school... Culver Creek. His roommate, Chip, also known as "The Colonel", was his first friend on campus. Then came Takumi, then Alaska, then Lara. Pudge liked Alaska from the first time he saw her but she is overly attached to her boyfriend.
even though pudge likes Alaska, he agrees to go out with Lara. all the four of them were planning the best prank ever. the Colonel had everything planned out to the second. they first had to have a pre-prank so the Eagle would thing that WAS the prank... then they would have to wait a couple days. So, one night, Alaska, the Colonel and Pudge were hanging out, drunk, and fell asleep. The Colonel and Pudge woke up to Alaska freaking out, screaming "I NEED TO GET OUT OF HERE!" so they helped her get off campus.
AFTER: No, it could be a prank, she could pull it off right? Not this time. Alaska Young died that night. She ran into a police car. Pudge and the Colonel go on a mad search to find out what happened. She was not drunk enough to not swerve... but then Pudge remembered a quote from one of Alaska's books "how will we ever get out of this labyrinth of suffering". They find a note next to that part of the book "Straight and fast".
Was that what Alaska was thinking when she saw the police car? Strait and fast? Will we ever know?
