Hitler’s Secret
By: William Osborn
“Hitler’s
Secret,” a strange but neat type of book. That takes place during World War 2.
It focused on two teenagers who were recruited for the British Army. Just a note,
it is a hard book to follow, but if the reader gets far enough it starts to get
interesting. The main characters “Otto,” a fifteen year-old boy, and “Leni” a
fourteen year-old girl, are spies trying to capture someone from Germany to
what’s left of Britain. Their journey will take them all over Germany, looking
for one man that may be able to stop Nazism and possibly Hitler.
It
starts off with Otto, trying to get away from German officers. He is running as
fast as he can away from the soldiers hoping they won’t see where he’s trying
to go. Suddenly, an overhead plane dove down and shot at Otto trying to kill
him. Luckily the shots missed, but he dropped the only thing he had left of his
family, his father’s gold wrist watch, he scrambled to get it, but the soldiers
saw him, so he made a drastic decision to run towards the last British boat and
leave the watch. The boat had started to leave without him. So, with the
soldiers now shooting at him, he dove in the water and started swimming towards
the boat. He soon caught up and climbed aboard, to meet the friendlies. He was
headed to safety the capital.
Meanwhile,
Leni had been getting drove to the hospital, for an “urgent blood transfusion”
transport. After ten minutes, she reappeared with thirty bottles of blood, put
them in the trunk of the car and drove to Buckingham Palace, the capital in
London. She got to the front gates, and told the soldiers of the blood
transfusion required there. They let her in, and she gave the needed blood to
the nurse. She could do nothing more, so she waited. However a little while later,
she was approached by the Prime Minister; he studied her for a second and asked
her to come with him. She followed.
A
couple minutes passed and the Prime Minister had both Otto and Leni in a silent
conference room, he told them about a secret mission, he told them they needed
to capture a man, gave them small
details on the mission, their disguise, etc. They then got a flight over to
Germany where they would begin their dangerous mission.
The
book itself has a good concept and story line to it, but it’s too hard to
follow, that’s why I say I wouldn’t recommend this book to many. The character
names didn’t feel right, and the story was a little strange, but besides that
it was an O.K book. I just feel as if it wasn’t right for a historical fiction
book.
That sounds like a good book and the beginning of your review hook me and made me want to keep reading. Good details and description. It does sound like the book could be kind of hard to follow. Great job on the review:)
ReplyDeleteI have wanted to read this book it caught my eye when I first saw it but never got around to it and I think I might read it for the next review.
ReplyDeleteI liked your review, but it was a bit hard to follow, but I guess if the book is as well I can see why.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a good book. I loved how you put just the right amount of details in the review.
