Cirque Du Freak:
The Vampire's Assistant
By: Darren Shan
Cirque Du Freak: The Vampire's Assistant
is the second book of twelve in the Cirque
Du Freak series. This book is about Darren copping with being a
half-vampire.
Darren
needs to feed on human blood but refuses to because he thinks it's immoral to
do so. He doesn’t want to give up the human part of himself. Darren meets a
little boy from the village, Sam Grest, and becomes close friends with him. He
also meets R.V., Reggie Veggie, at the Ecowarrior's campsite and became good
friends with him too.
Darren
and Evra, snake boy, invite their friends to a show. When R.V. gets there and
sees the show he's appalled by what he sees. Madam Octa, a rare spider, killing
a goat, and Wolfman, half man half wolf, being locked in a cage. What a surprise
it is for Darren when he finds R.V. trying to open Wolfman's cage!
Cirque Du Freak: The Vampire's Assistant
may seem like a sort of filler book, but it picks up and becomes full of emotion
and tragedy. It is a great book and one I highly recommend to read.
