Boost
A young teen with insane basketball skills, and a deadly three point shot, has just arrived in Rhode Island. Basketball is her life, basketball is her everything. Savvy Christopher is her name. Did I mention she is a six-foot-two-inch eighth grader and is still growing? Savvy is trying out for the elite 16U team, which is crazy because she is only fourteen. She meets one of the girls there, Nina Gonzalez, and becomes a really close friend with her, she has an even more insane idea.
Trying out for the 16U team isn't easy as a fourteen-year-old but, trying out for the 18U high school team Fire, shouldn't be possible. But, these two girls take the challenge head on, making the team. They are both extremely talented but the coach makes it clear that they could boost their game if they want.
When Savvy’s Aunt Betty gets hurt, it leaves Savvy to do all of her farm chores. Throwing hay bales everyday will get your muscles pretty big and being six-foot-two-inches tall raises questions in people’s minds. Savvy’s sister, Callie, is also an athlete, she’s a cheerleader. Back in New Mexico she was the best cheerleader there was, but now in Rhode Island she is the runt of the pack. As Callie starts buffing up, people are also suspicious of what she might be doing.

During one of Savvy’s games, one of her team mates finds a pill bottle stuffed in Savvy’s bag, and it isn't medication for an injury. Savvy doesn't remember putting it in her bag, let alone taking any pills. None of the girls on her team could have possibly put it in her bag either. Callie’s story about never seeing the pills seems pretty convincing. But, only one of the sisters could have possibly done this, so which girl went too far to boost their game?
