Kira comes back home to South Carolina because she could no longer afford to stay at the boarding school in New York. On her first day, she found Luke - or he found her. She becomes friends with Luke and his friends almost immediately. A boy named Tristan, one of the “misfits”, fascinated her the first time she saw him. She instantly became interested in him even though Luke specifically said to stay away from all the “misfits” but he wouldn’t tell her why.

She soon finds out that Tristan and Luke are enemies but they both won’t explain why.

After nearly drowning and being saved by Tristan, her crush deepened and so did Luke’s hatred of Tristan. Kira felt drawn to him, like her and Tristan were supposed to be together. She soon found out what that force was and why she felt that way… but that didn’t stop her from wanting to be with him.
