Code Orange
Caroline B. Clooney

Code Orange is a book about a boy who is like an ordinary kid who hates school. Mitty Blake, the main character, lives in New York. After the Twin Towers were knocked down, Mitty still felt safe. He never planned on another terrorist planning to destroy New York.

At school, Mr. Lynch assigned the students to do a report on infectious diseases. Mitty decides to do his on Smallpox. Mitty's mother is a home interior designer, so he decided to go through old books and found some medical books. He stumbles upon a book with an enveloped with scabs from a person who had Smallpox. Mitty touches and smells the scabs. He doesn't know it but he might have smallpox.

A couple days later, Mitty is considering suicide so he can't give Smallpox to everyone in New York. Instead of committing suicide, terrorists' abducted him. Their plan was to take the Smallpox out of Mitty and kill every person in New York. Is Mitty really infected? Will their plan work? Will Mitty turn in his paper on Smallpox?
