I Survive the Battle of Gettysburg,
in 1863
By Lauren Trishis
The battle of
Gettysburg was terrible and the bloodiest battle ever fought in the Civil War,
it also marked the turning point of the Civil War between the Union and the
Confederates. The battle took place in Pennsylvania in July 1-3, 1863. The
battle lasted three days.
Before the
battle took action the book took place at plantation at Virginia. Their mother
has died their cousin Clem has been sold to another plantation. Thomas and
Birdie are trying to survive by themselves so nothing is new the same old things;
they work from daybreak and dawn.
When the
people who gathers slaves and sells them. Thomas and Birdie hears them to get
Thomas and Birdie, thanks to Thomas’ quick thinking they fled the plantation.
Birdie is on Thomas’ back, and Thomas is running for miles fowling the North
Star the brightest star in the sky at night. They need a safe place to hid
during the day, so the slave catchers won’t find them.
While they
were hiding they were soldiers in gray uniforms started yelling at them. Thomas
stood up and yelled “Don’t shoot.” After the shooting, Corporal Henry Green {he
is a Union Soldier} brings Thomas and Birdie back to his regiment. They don’t
have to worry about going North they are marching with the army. Until the
orders come through to move to the Battle of Gettysburg.
I know you really like stories of war, Logan. Was this an historical fiction piece?
ReplyDeleteThis sounds very good. But i kind of got lost when it said Thomas and Birdie hears them to get Thomas and Birdie, thanks to Thomas’. I had to read it more then once and still didn't get it. It might just be me though.
