Cloverfield

2 part story

On the night of his transfer to Japan, Rob comes home to a going away party as an opportunity to confess unresolved feelings and tie up loose ends. Rob and his girlfriend, Elizabeth “Beth” Mclntyre, have been having many struggles with their relationship. During the party, one of Rob’s friends named Hudson Platt “accidentally” video tapes a glimpse of Beth and Rob argument. Over the video Beth tries to break up with Rob but not in person, but over the film.

Robs agenda takes an unexpected turn when a jolt shakes the building. The crowd quiets down to watch the news reports of an earthquake, then everyone rushes to the roof to see the damage. A fireball coming from the ground explodes on the distant horizon, and a power failure follows. Confusion gives way to panic as the partygoers stumble through the blackout and into the streets, many human screams on the street and one inhuman roar.

The military quickly move in to the city and sends many people over the Brooklyn Bridge into New Jersey. Many friends, family and pets where then scattered all over the bridge. All in the mess, Robs receives a phone call from Beth, as he stops walking he yells to his friends. Another loud roar comes from the streets as one of the cords on the bridge brakes. The Brooklyn Bridge then starts to collapses right out from under the cities feet. Robs brother Jason Hawkins gets stuck in the crowd running off the bridge and falls into a huge crack in the ground. Jason’s girlfriend Lily Ford then goes into a panic attack and tries to run on the bridge for Jason. Rob stops Lily but, with Rob and his friends stuck with nowhere to go but with the army and to get a phone call from Rob’s girlfriend, where is she and what creature is in New York?

  1. I like how you didn't reveal the secrets in the book

  2. While I was reading the review, I started getting kind of lost because of all the and's and but's. The last part of the last sentence on the first paragraph confused me also. Overall it was a good review and made me want to read it although it doesn't sound like a book I would be interested in. Great job.
