When the Tuck family stumbles onto a small spring under the
base of an old tree in the middle of the woods, their lives change forever. They
have changed. Everyone form there family drank form the spring, except for the
cat. They noticed changes when the oldest of the boys fell out of a tree, on
his head. He was of course fine. Which was odd because he should have died. And
another time when the horse got shot by a nearby farmer. The farmer could have
sworn the horse went down, but he was fine. As years went by, Mae and the
family noticed they hadn't changed a bit. Literally, they didn't look a day
older.
This in turn changes the life of Whinny Foster. Whinny is a
young girl who lives the life of a caged animal. For her parent’s sake, she
isn't aloud outside of her family's fence, which means she must stay at home at
all times with her mother, and grandmother. But one day, when Whinny decides to
take a leap of faith, and sneaks out of the safety of her home, she to stumbles
upon the spring. That’s where she meets Jesse Tuck. After Jesse stops Whinny
from drinking from the fountain, Whinny's whole world gets turned upside down
when Jesse and Mae kidnap Whinny so they can try to explain to her. At first
Whinny is scared, but then she finds herself falling in love with the family.
They were a family she had never experienced for her. But she soon realizes
that she can’t stay with them. She has to go home. But that gets difficult when
a man, who has heard Mae’s music box from the time he was little finds the
spring, and threatens to expose the Tuck family. Mae, in an attempt to save
Whinny, is arrested. But she can’t go to trial. She would for sure be hung. And
then everyone would know the secret.
In the meantime, Whinny finds herself falling in love with
Jesse. Although he looks eighteen, he is much older. But that doesn't stop her
feelings towards him. By the end of her stay with this wonderful family, Whinny
is faced with a choice, she can either wait until she is old enough, and drink
from the fountain and be with Jesse forever, or she can live her life, grow old
and die. What will she choose?
