Gaby, Lost and Found

Gaby, Lost and Found
Gaby Ramirez Howard loves animals just like her mother. One morning her mom is off but a woman calls in with a sick baby so Gaby’s mom fills in for her. While her mom is there, police come in and arrest all the immigrants. Since Gaby’s mom traveled from Mexico to America without legal documents, she is deported to Honduras. Gaby’s father decides to move back in and take care of Gaby instead of her friend, Alma’s parents. The only problem is, her dad isn't exactly father material. Now Gaby feels like a stray since her father is almost never home. She has to feed herself, clean, and make sure she is in bed at a decent time.
Gaby’s sixth grade class is deciding on a service project. They have to choose between the Furry Friends animal shelter, and the City Harvest Center. Gaby really wanted the class to vote for Furry Friends. Not only because she loved animals, but her dad couldn't keep a job so they got food from there. If word got around about that, the two eighth graders, Jan and Dolores, would tease her for months like they did when her mother was taken away. Lucky for Gaby, Alma got up and made a big statement as to why they should volunteer at the shelter and that is what everyone voted.
While they are at the shelter, Dr.Villalobos, otherwise known as Dr.V, introduces the class to a very gorgeous cat named Feather. Feather was abandon at a rest stop, when the shelter found her; she was skinny and felt as light as a feather. Gaby instantly falls in love with the cat. The shelter is putting up a website and Gaby is chosen to write profiles for the animals.

Life seems to be fine minus her home situation, until one day a couple shows up and claims to be Feathers owners. They say that they were going on vacation when she escaped from the car. When Dr.V tries to refuse to give her back they threaten to sue. Gaby feels she must do something so she steels Feather. Will Gaby be able to take care of the cat when her own father can’t take care of her? What about her mother, will she ever be able to get home to Gaby? Read Gaby, Lost and Found to find out.

Si-Cology

SI-cology
By: Silas Robertson
“Hey jack!” Many people know, and love this sentence. Si Robertson’s book Si-cology is about Si’s child hood. But everyone needs to keep in mind that not all of his stories are true, In fact the opening page says “all of my stories are 99% truthful.”
Si’s book includes his child hood, his teen years, his college years, his army years, and his married years. Si talks most about his child hood, tagging along with Phil and tommy (Si’s older brother) hunting squirrels and cat fishing. During Si’s collage years he didn’t do much learning. He mainly partied and blew of collage.
Si’s stories is very funny and it tells about some cool things in Si’s history. Si-cology is a very good book for any duck dynasty fan.

The Sinking of the Bismarck: The Deadly Hunt

The Sinking of the Bismarck: The Deadly Hunt

The Bismark was the greatest warship ever built, with guns so powerful and accurate it could destroy an enemy ship while safely staying outside the line of fire. But the Allies had to sink it or risk losing the war. Most tragic of all was the loss of the HMS Hood, the best warship the British had at the time. However, a mixture of luck (radar) could turned the tide in the Allies’ favor.

Ship Breakers

Ship Breakers

Ship Breakers by Paolo Bacigalupi is historical fiction and is a great book I highly recommend it to those with a moderate Lexile level. It puts the reader through suspense and anxiety. I have made a lot of connections like the fact that you have to be the best and in horrible situations even your good friends will turn on you. I also learned that if you are a lying little cheat you will get as far as the person next to you but no farther.

Will has been a beach rat his whole life and a part of light crew for as long as he could remember. He has crawled through air duct and small spaces as soon as he could crawl and pull wires at the same time.  He and Pima eventually became friends and later she became the leader of light crew and was trying to get ready for heavy crew. Then a giant storm hits and everyone has to head for cover. Eventually the storm passes and when they are on leave after the storm they find a really fast ship called a clipper. When they search it they come up with the idea of a lucky strike, which means to carry small amounts of fortune and eventually get freed from slavery. Then they find a person with more wealth on her fingers than on the whole ship in gold and when they try to get the gold it won’t budge that’s when they decide to cut off the fingers but then the girl blinks and will backs up and once he decides to save her, he dives into something bigger than anyone on the beach.

As he and the Swank fight to find her father in order to avoid her evil uncles clutches. I have had a lot of moments when I swore he would die and…… I have already said to much already You’ll have to find out how the book goes and the final ending.

This is my second time reading this book it is just so good I can’t get enough. The rise of nine is just like all of pittacus lore amazing. It has so much action it will have u sitting at the end of your seat from beginning to end.

Happy, Happy, Happy

Happy, Happy, Happy.
By: Phil Robertson
Happy, Happy, Happy is Phil Robertson's autobiography. If you don't know who Phil Robertson is, He is on, in my opinion, the best show on television. In Happy, Happy, Happy Phil tells about his past starting at his child hood. He tells about his siblings, including Si, and his four son's. Many people think of Phil as a good religious man, But he actually ant one point o his life was a fugitive and a alcoholic. While he was working at a bar he threw the bar owners across the room. When the cops showed he fled and hid from the law at and off shore oil rig. He left Miss Kay, Allan, Jase and Willie to fend for themselves and pay for his bounty. Luckily before Phil was put in prison Phil was baptized as a Cristian. He now spends the res of his days with is family. He also try's to convert as many people as he can to Cristian's, But lets not forget to mention his favorite thing to do hunt ducks.

CHINA & AMERICA

                                                        The CHINESE and AMERICANS
Archer, Jules

This book is about OBVIOUSLY, everything that has to deal with China and America. Some of the things that both of the countries deal with is economic partnership, trades, and war. But it also goes  far into history about the countries. Like for a weird fact, Hui-Sheng from China actually discovered Mexico in 499! That was WAY before Columbus did. Hui-Sheng then called Mexico Fusang.
FYI : Mexico is apart of North America

Like I said though, this book also deals with stuff that includes economics, traditions, and the relationship between the two countries. Read the rest to find how the two countries affairs were.

He’s Just Not That Into You

Book By: Greg Behrendt and Liz Tuccillo

Review: Sable Lynn

Girls just never know if he is into you or not… Trust me I’m one of those girls. Guys make pointless excuses to not be more than friends with you. Greg is trying to explain to the ladies that guys don’t care about ruining the friendship… Of course Liz doesn’t get it… Either do us girls. It’s stupid and pointless when guys make up excuses. Guys just don’t get that when they don’t care about ruining the friendships, that it does hurt the girls. Of course the ladies have to come to the realization that… He’s just not that into you.

Yes, yes, yes, guys do realize what they are doing. As Greg tries, and tries to get that through our head, us girls still don’t get it. Like the “he’s afraid to get hurt again”, “but he’s got a lot on his mind”, and the most used one, “we are better off as just friends”. All those excuses are really just crap. Greg doesn’t understand why we don’t understand… And honestly Liz and other girls don’t understand guys as well.
