Julius Erving also known as Dr.J was highest flyer before
Michael Jordan came along. Dr.J changed the game of basketball with his amazing
slam-dunking style. When Dr.J was a kid he grew up near New York. Growing up in
New York he played a lot of pick-up games with older and better kids. Growing
up he always wanted to be a doctor. He
got many scholarships from schools that wanted him to play basketball for them.
He chose The University of Massachusetts. He still wanted to be a doctor. His
roommate came up with the nickname Dr.J. It stuck as he went up to play in the
American Basketball Association (ABA). He played for the Nets. The Nets won two
championships and then went up to the National Basketball Association (NBA).
Dr.J then got trade to the Seventy Sixes where he won a ring. He later retire
and was put into the NBA Hall of Fame.
